Art Deco and Modern Vintage

New window displays just in time for spring. We've been loving all the 1920's art deco designs we've been seeing lately and had this gorgeous dresser to redo, so it just made sense to do an art deco theme. We chose dark greens, whites, and peaches/corals with metallic accents for the color scheme. And I added a botanical element, because, hey, its spring and who doesn't love flowers?

So sorry for the terrible glare and reflections in all the photos!

For the other window, we went with a modern vintage theme in neutrals and in muted pastels for a soft feminine touch. A beautiful mid-century mod piece, but painted in more modern neutrals and with chalkboard drawers and cupboard doors. Modern accessories with the vintage touch of old book pages.

So fun to be starting a new season, especially one that promises warmer weather and flowers!

If music be the food of love, play on...

So this amazing photographer asked me to do a styled wedding shoot with her. I'm so honored to have been a part of this! So much fun planning and making everything, I mean, who doesn't love getting to plan another wedding!
I absolutely adore how natural Chelsie's photography is, the gorgeous natural lighting and unposed look of her subjects, it's just stunning! Check out her website here: Chelsie Moreland Photography. So psyched to have been part of this (did I mention that already :-))!
And I have to give credit to the rest of the people who helped to make this happen: We had a great make-up artist, Lacy Covey. My aunt and uncle let us use their beautiful land. Chelsie's husband let us use the horse trailer, Marxophone, and even their dining room table! And we had incredible models. Which I need to brag on a little more. Seriously, the models (my friends Andy and Kerri), were amazing. They worked in terrible conditions: heat,wind, bugs, no food for hours, and were incredibly helpful and patient. Andy let us borrow his beautiful phonograph and Kerri found her own dress and shoes to wear and they really made the shoot work. I mean, look how adorable they are:

Vintage Wallpaper

I'm in love with this vintage wallpaper.

It's so perfectly me. The light teal/minty color with bronze accents, the retro design with a little Asian influence. Yep, even has cherry blossoms on it. Mom found it at an auction, one of her best finds ever (in my opinion:)). I can't wait to make stuff with it. But it's going to be one of those things that I have to force myself to use and not hoard. It's going to be one of those things that I want to wait until I find the perfect project for it, but consider it as an option for almost every project until I do. I even briefly considered wallpapering a wall in my house with it just so I could stare at it every day. But I don't want to risk getting sick of it. So it will live in our supplies at the shop until it can be used for that perfect thing.

Keepsake Box

So excited about our Keepsake Box Class on March 22nd! There are so many things you can do with these boxes! I used Webster's Pages Sunday Picnic papers, Graphic 45's altered art box and metal tag, and a Tim Holtz curio knob and glass vial. Such a fun project! I'm imagining so many other possibilities with different papers: baby keepsake boxes, gifts for bridesmades like this one, a place to keep and display all your sweet little antique findings like vintage hankies, and so much more!Tweet

Clothing shop I love

Here's a little promotion for shopruche.com Just found them about a month ago, through a facebook ad of all places and I love them. For once one of the ads related to me! Affordable yet awesome vintage inspired clothing. It's been so long since I've seen clothing I really liked that wasn't $200. (So I've just been buying cheap lame clothing). I haven't bought anything from Ruche yet, but I've certainly added a bunch of items to my Amazon wishlist for Christmas. Only disadvantage is not getting to try the clothes on first, but living in the middle of nowhere I've kind of resigned myself to this anyway. So check them out if you think you'll like them.Tweet

A few of my favorite things...

As it gets closer to my birthday, I start to indulge more and more in my favorite things. A picnic out in the beautiful Fall scenery, a strong cup of jasmine tea, buying new art supplies, and taking photos of stuff I love become priorities. And my husband gets more and more stressed as I put more expectations on him and ask him to do crazy things. Last year I was determined to have a picnic despite the fact that it was snowing---a little cold, but I got some great photos of Fall foliage covered in snow!
So I spent some time today taking photos of some of my favorite vintage finds over the years. Did I mention I like green?
