Our DIY this month is to help you get started on the most fun part of giving gifts...gift wrapping :). Just a few simple ideas to make your packages extra special:
For this present, we hand stamped the paper-the white dots are just a pencil eraser in white paint. And you can find our tutorial for the yarn poms here.
On this one, we folded pieces of washi tape over twine and then cut the the ends of the tape in a triangle shape.
And finally, we added dots with Stickles glitter, paper roses, and a paper ornament to this package. You can find our tutorial for making paper roses here. Just scroll down to the 3rd video. For the ornament, just cut or punch out three circles, stitch them down the middle and fold out the sides.
*All twines and ribbons used are available by the yard in our shop.

Now that I’ve got some of my Christmas shopping done, I’m excited about wrapping presents! Not excited enough to do all my brother’s for him (he usually asks me to wrap a ton gifts the day before Christmas J), but excited to get creative with my own. Love to use vintage items and simple things to wrap and decorate gifts and I really liked this blog post on One Charming Party about using simple things to wrap gifts. Click here to see their great ideas! If you don’t have any of those items at home, we have some great simple items at the shop to wrap with too. Baker’s twine, burlap, handmade tags, and paper ornaments make great package decorations!

If you are not as into the handmade gift wrap look, we also have some high quality elegant Christmas gift wrap from Madison Park Greetings and Wooster and Prince!

Happy gift wrapping, and Happy Holidays! We wish you the merriest of Christmases this year!

A tropical Christmas?

I'm a real -as in not fake- Christmas tree snob. I completely understand the benefits and efficiency of fake trees. But there is just something about real trees that I don't want to give up. Going out to pick out the perfect shape, the scent of pine filling your house, and the look and feel of the tree. There is something I do want to give up...the price. I just can't justify spending $25-30 on a tree every year when we don't even have Christmas at my house (we always go to our parents). So I normally put up a tree every other year. This year I considered cutting down a tree from behind my mom's house, but the scrawny cedars and bonsai-shaped ponderosa pines just wouldn't cut it. The reason I was so anxious to put up a tree on my off year is that I got some gorgeous ornaments last year that just need to be displayed. :-) As I was getting out a few Christmas decorations this year, I kept glancing at the big palm plant I have in the corner. It was about the same size as a Christmas tree...It is real...It sits in the corner where I normally put the tree...So I decided to put some of my pretty bulbs on it and see what happened.
Kind of crazy, but kind of cool.
The most beautiful Christmas bulb ever...
Here are a few of my other decorations.
Yay! Christmas is coming!
